Summer NNTA Transportation Meeting at USF

Mark your calendar for the Wednesday, July 14 summer meeting of the New North Transportation Alliance Advisory Board.  We invite guests to attend the Summer Meeting and meet our Advisory Board. 

The meeting will begin at 8 a.m. at the Center for Urban Transportation Research at USF.  Enjoy coffee, juice and pastry and network with members before the meeting begins.  PLEASE RSVP to Julie Bond, NNTA Director at bond@cutr.usf.edu if you would like to attend.

During the meeting:

  • Learn the latest from HART.  HART is in the last phase of the Alternative Analysis study which is looking at transit improvements in the corridors extending from USF to Downtown on to Westshore.   The study recommendations on the preferred alignment and technology are scheduled to be presented to the HART Board in August 2010.
  • Hear an informative presentation about the St. Petersburg Downtown Looper Trolley from Eric Carlson, Transportation Director, St Petersburg Downtown Partnership Inc.
  • Find out about the “new” Grassroots Pedestrian Outreach Campaign for Hillsborough, Pinellas and Pasco Counties and how you can participate!

HART to Hold “Program of Projects” Public Hearing June 24th

 Hearing to Gather Feedback on HART’s Proposed Application for Federal Funding
 

Tampa, FL – HART is holding a public hearing on Thursday, June 24 from 4 – 6 p.m. at the HART Administrative Office located at 1201 E. 7th Avenue in Ybor.  The purpose of the hearing is to provide the opportunity to individuals and/or groups to present their views and comments regarding HART’s proposed application for federal transit Urbanized Area Formula funds.

HART will be receiving $11,292,288 in federal funds for fiscal year 2010.  The funds will be used to fund capital and operating projects, including: capital leases, preventative maintenance, acquisition of vehicles, equipment, information system upgrades, facility improvements, transit enhancement projects, passenger amenities, ADA operations, planning activities, security projects, and project administration. 

HART’s ad valorem funds, which HART receives mostly from property taxes, will be used to match the planning projects, which require a 20 percent local match.

Temple Terrace Downtown Redevelopment Groundbreaking

After years of hopes, plans and dreams, Temple Terrace’s heralded downtown revelopment project will start with a bang this summer when the City and the master developer host a major Redevelopment Groundbreaking event.

The event will be held on Friday, July 2, 2010 at 2:00pm on the site of the project, a 29-acre parcel southeast of Bullard Parkway and 56th Street. More

HART Transit Oriented Development Meeting

As part of the HART Alternative Analysis currently underway, work is being performed on the land use implications of the alignments under consideration.  GB Arrington, Vice President/Principal Practice Leader with PlaceMaking, Parsons Brinckerhoff, will be making a presentation on the land use and Transit Oriented Development (TOD) work effort for selection of a Locally Preferred Alternative:

  • General issues related to the differing alignments (freeway, local street, rail ROW) and how they influence TOD performance
  • Preliminary analysis findings of prototypical station areas
